Markus Henttonen’s photo series is a kind of road movie told through associations: the apparently randomly created works seem like a journey through someone’s life, like precise, yet beautifully poetic snapshots of past events and encounters. As a visual storyteller, Henttonen takes us through time, landscapes, and emotions, balancing on the threshold between reality and fiction. It is a trip full of joy and pain, happiness and desperation, always accompanied by Henttonen’s typical, melancholy underlying tone, even though there is always a sense of optimism on his Road to Hope.
