6:30 AM

Robert Weingarten (* 1941) grew up in New York, moved to Los Angeles in the early eighties, and now lives in Malibu.

Weingarten’s photographs are exhibited in numerous collections, including the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Spectacular photographs as products of a technique of extreme reduction. Every morning at 6:30, for an entire year, Robert Weingarten photographed the same view from a window in his house overlooking Santa Monica Bay, using the same camera and lens for each shot. This book offers eloquent proof of the extraordinary range of color constellations that can be captured on a negative in this way.

We have chosen an especially sensational image from the series for our Collector’s Edition: the first bright rays of a splendidly clear day peeking out over a dark bank of clouds.

Collector's Editions will be shipped upon receipt of payment (including postage and handling) or credit card authorization.
