Franz Gertsch
The Retrospective

Franz Gertsch (*1930 in Möringen) lives in Rüschegg, Switzerland.

1947–50: attended Max von Mühlenen’s painting school in Bern; 1950–52: additional training under Hans Schwarzenbach in Bern; 1997: awarded the Kaiserring by the city of Goslar; 2002: opening of the museum franz gertsch in Burgdorf.

Franz Gertsch is regarded as one of the most outstanding Swiss artists of our time. He has also earned an excellent international reputation with his hyper-realistic painting and his striking woodcuts. From his international breakthrough at documenta 5 in Kassel in 1972 to the presentation of his works at the Venice Biennale in 1999 and 2003, he has produced a rich oeuvre of painting and graphic art that offers a unique view of reality.

Our Collector’s Edition is a charming monochrome woodcut by the artist. With unprecedented precision and monumental formats that probe the limits of the possible in paper production, Gertsch has explored new dimensions in this traditional medium.

Collector's editions will be shipped upon receipt of payment (including postage and handling) or credit card authorization.
