Peter Zimmermann has gained international recognition for his highly individualistic paintings. Most famous are his Book Cover Paintings, which he has produced since the late 1980s. Book covers—especially those of art and cultural theory classics, as well as monographs of abstract painters—provide the motifs for the artist, which he then translates into the medium of painting. This conceptual art of painting about painting is presented with a seductive sensuality.
In a second group of works, the Blob Paintings, Zimmermann abstracts found visual material. The artist modifies different motifs on the computer and transposes the abstract forms, some of them reminiscent of psychedelic structures, onto canvas.

We are very pleased to be able to offer you one of Peter Zimmermann’s Book Cover Paintings in a small, exclusive edition. The work is based on the cover of the catalogue for the legendary minimal art exhibition at the Jewish Museum in New York in 1966.
