Toni Schneiders (Urbar near Koblenz 1920-2006 Lindau).

1935-37: learned photography at the Menzel Studio in Koblenz; successfully completed his studies in April 1938. Freelance photographer since 1953. 1999: received the Kulturpreis der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Photographie.

Toni Schneiders is certainly one of the most outstanding contemporary photographers in Germany. In 1949 he and Otto Steinert, Peter Keetman, Siegfried Lauterwasser, Wolfgang Reisewitz, and Ludwig Windstosser co-founded the famous photographers' group fotoform. They wanted to offer an alternative to postwar German photography, which had been marked by Nazi propaganda, by introducing a new language of form that used the vocabulary of the Neues Sehen movement of the 1920s.
With its emphatic black-and-white contrasts, our extraordinarily attractive Collector's Edition was created in 1959, during one of Schneider's many journeys to Norway. Its expression of compositional austerity and remarkable form are characteristic of many of the artist's photographs.

The Collector's Edition will be shipped upon receipt of payment (including postage and handling) or credit card authorization.
