Over the Rainbow

Yoshitomo Nara (*1959) lives near Tokyo. 1988–93: studied at the Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie under Michael Buthe and A. R. Penck.

Hiroshi Sugito (*1970) lives in Nagoya. He spent his childhood in the U.S. and returned to Japan in 1986. There he met Yoshitomo Nara, from whom he took lessons in drawing in preparation for his studies in art.

During a stay in Vienna in the summer of 2004, the two Japanese artists collaborated on a number of drawings and paintings in an unusual co-operative venture. Nara’s characteristic images of childlike figures in the tradition of the popular Manga comics merge with the subtle tones of Sugito’s interiors and landscapes: Zen meets Pop.

Our Collector’s Edition, a ten-color lithograph, has been revised by Yoshitomo Nara and Hiroshi Sugito by hand and is thus a one-of-a-kind work.

Collector's Editions will be shipped upon receipt of payment (including postage and handling) or credit card authorization.
