Kati Heck (*1979) is a Düsseldorf artist who lives in Antwerp and seems well on the way to international success. In the art world she’s often regarded as one of the heirs to German Expressionism. Her monumental paintings recall the establishments and beauties portrayed by Otto Dix, while at the same time her virtuoso, Old-Master-style painting technique is astounding. With her mix of styles—from photo-realist figures to cartoon-like and drawn elements—her work is closely related to both Realism and Abstract Art. Like Robert Rauschenberg, Heck occasionally combines non-traditional materials and everyday objects to produce unusual pictorial creations. “Obviously and persuasively, she is always questioning the art of painting,” says Jan Hoet about her oeuvre.
Here our edition for EGH of the artist’s signed silkscreen prints, printed on Japanese simili paper. Each print of the 20 + 8 AP edition is individually painted by Kati Heck, which makes it an exclusive, unique piece.
